United States

These are the United States additions to our Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy, word for word as they stand at the end of each document in the Cindrus app. Where they refer to numbered sections or say “above”, they mean the sections of the full document:

United States: Additional Terms

Last updated: October 25, 2026 · Version 2026-10-25-us1

If you live in the United States, these Additional Terms apply to you together with our Terms of Service (sections 1–32 above). They explain what Cindrus is and is not in the United States, how subscriptions renew and how to cancel them, and how disputes are handled.

US-1. Who these Additional Terms apply to

These Additional Terms apply if you live in the United States or use Cindrus with the United States selected as your market.

If something in these Additional Terms conflicts with sections 1–32 of our Terms of Service, these Additional Terms apply to you. Everything else in sections 1–32 continues to apply.

US-2. Cindrus is a software tool — not a lender, broker or adviser

Cindrus is a personal finance software service. It helps you keep track of loans, assets and calculations that you enter yourself.

Cindrus is not:

  • a bank, lender, creditor or loan servicer;
  • a mortgage broker, loan originator or lead generator;
  • a credit counselor, financial planner, investment adviser or tax adviser; or
  • affiliated with, endorsed by or acting on behalf of any government agency, government-sponsored enterprise, lender or loan servicer — including your current lender or servicer.

Cindrus does not: take loan applications, make credit decisions, offer or negotiate loan terms, pre-approve or pre-qualify anyone, or pass your information to lenders.

Calculations in Cindrus are estimates based on the information you enter and the assumptions shown. They are not a loan offer, a commitment to lend, a Loan Estimate or any other official disclosure. Actual rates, payments, fees, taxes, insurance and eligibility are decided by lenders and may differ. You decide what to do with your finances.

US-3. What Cindrus does in the United States today

In the paid plans, Cindrus compares the rate you enter for a fixed-rate mortgage with a published national average and shows the source and date with it. For adjustable-rate mortgages and home equity lines, Cindrus shows the published index you choose (with source and date) next to your own loan terms. An average or index is not an offer, and what you could be offered depends on your credit, your home and the lender's terms.

Some features described in sections 1–32 may not be available in the United States. The features available to you are the ones shown in Cindrus and on the pricing page for the United States.

US-4. Subscriptions, free trials and automatic renewal

Before you subscribe, we show you clearly and close to the button you press:

  • the plan you are buying;
  • the amount that will be charged and how often (every month or every year);
  • that the subscription renews automatically until you cancel;
  • the length of any free trial and the date of the first charge; and
  • how to cancel.

We charge you only after you have agreed to these terms. At checkout, you agree to the automatic renewal in its own statement, separately from accepting these Terms.

Free trial. A new subscription can start with a free trial of 14 days. Unless you cancel before the trial ends, the subscription converts to a paid subscription and the first payment is taken when the trial ends. We email you 7 days before your trial ends, with the amount, the date of the first charge and a link to cancel online. One free trial per person and per payment card.

Confirmation. After you subscribe, we email you a confirmation that you can keep. It includes the automatic renewal terms, the amount and frequency of charges, our cancellation policy and how to cancel.

Annual reminder. At least once a year, we email you a reminder of your subscription, the amount and frequency of charges, and how to cancel.

Amount charged. Prices are shown before sales tax. Sales tax, if any, is calculated at checkout based on your billing address.

US-5. Cancel online, anytime

You can cancel online at any time under Subscription in your account. You do not have to call us or talk to anyone to cancel. You can also cancel by writing to support@cindrus.com.

When you cancel, automatic renewal stops and no further charges are made. You keep the paid features until the end of the period you have already paid for (section 11).

If you subscribed during a free trial and cancel before it ends, you are not charged.

US-6. Price changes and material changes

If we change the price of your subscription or make a material change to its terms, we will email you at least 7 days and no more than 30 days before the change takes effect. The email states the change, when it takes effect, and how to cancel. You can cancel before the change applies to you. A price change never applies to a period you have already paid for.

US-7. Refunds and withdrawal

Sections 10 and 12 also apply to you. This includes the 14-day right to withdraw from the agreement with the «Withdraw from agreement» button under Subscription.

US-8. Electronic communications

You agree that we may provide agreements, notices, confirmations and other communications about your account and subscription electronically — by email to the address on your account or inside Cindrus. Electronic communications satisfy any requirement that a communication be in writing. You can download or print them, and you can ask for a copy at support@cindrus.com.

Cindrus sends marketing emails only if you have said yes to them. You can unsubscribe in every marketing email and in Settings (section 29).

US-9. Lenders and other third parties

In the United States, Cindrus does not today link to specific lenders or loan offers, does not receive compensation from lenders, brokers or other financial providers, and does not send your information to them.

If that changes, we will update these Additional Terms and our Privacy Policy before it happens, and we will tell you what is shared and with whom before anything is shared.

US-10. Market data and sources

Where Cindrus or our websites show US market averages, we name the source and the date next to the figure. A market average is not your rate and not an offer. For example, the Freddie Mac Primary Mortgage Market Survey® is a weekly national average of rates offered to borrowers with good or excellent credit and a 20% down payment on home-purchase loans; the rate available to you may be higher or lower.

US-11. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by applicable law:

  • Cindrus is provided "as is" and "as available". We do not promise that Cindrus will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that any calculation, estimate or market figure will be complete, current or accurate for your situation (sections 4 and 24).
  • We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for lost profits or savings, arising from your use of Cindrus.
  • Our total liability to you for any claim relating to Cindrus is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us for Cindrus in the 12 months before the claim arose and (b) US$100.

Some states do not allow some of these exclusions or limitations, so they may not apply to you. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for fraud or for our gross negligence or willful misconduct, or any right you have under the consumer-protection laws of your state that cannot be waived.

US-12. Disputes and governing law

If something is wrong, please write to us first at support@cindrus.com. We will try to resolve it fairly and promptly (section 31).

Section 32 applies: these Terms are governed by Danish law. That choice does not take away the protection of the consumer-protection laws of your state of residence that cannot be waived by agreement.

You may bring a claim in a small-claims court in your state of residence if that court has jurisdiction. These Terms do not require arbitration and do not prevent you from joining a class action.

US-13. California residents

The provider of Cindrus is named in section 1, which also shows our contact details and links to our address. You can reach us at support@cindrus.com. Charges for paid plans are shown on the pricing page and at checkout before you subscribe; the Free plan costs nothing.

Under California Civil Code section 1789.3, California residents may contact the Complaint Assistance Unit of the Division of Consumer Services of the California Department of Consumer Affairs in writing at 1625 North Market Blvd., Suite N 112, Sacramento, CA 95834, or by telephone at (800) 952-5210.

US-14. Age

Cindrus is not directed to children under 13, and children under 13 may not create an account. To buy a paid subscription, you must be at least 18 years old (section 5).

US-15. Changes and contact

We may update these Additional Terms as described in section 30. The date at the top shows when they were last changed. Questions: support@cindrus.com. Privacy questions: privacy@cindrus.com.

US State Privacy Notice

Last updated: October 25, 2026 · Version 2026-10-25-us1

This notice applies if you live in the United States. It supplements our Privacy Policy (sections 1–29 above), which continues to apply to you in full. It uses the terms of US state privacy laws — including the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and the privacy laws of Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas and other states — to describe what we collect, why, how long we keep it, and the rights you have.

In short: we do not sell your personal information, we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, we do not use it for targeted advertising or profiling, and we do not send your financial information to lenders.

P-1. Notice at Collection

When you create a Cindrus account or use our websites, we collect the categories of personal information listed in section P-2, for the purposes listed there, and keep each category for the period listed in section P-7.

We do not sell or share personal information. We do not use or disclose sensitive personal information for any purpose other than those the CCPA permits (section P-3).

The full details are in this notice and in our Privacy Policy.

P-2. Personal information we collect, where it comes from, and why

In the past 12 months we have collected the following categories of personal information, using the categories named in the CCPA:

  • Identifiers — your name, email address, account ID; if you sign in with Google or Microsoft, the ID that provider uses for you. Source: you; Google or Microsoft if you choose them. Purpose: creating and operating your account, signing you in, and answering you.
  • Personal information described in California Civil Code § 1798.80(e) — your name and the financial information you choose to add, such as loans, outstanding balances, interest rates, payments and loan terms. Source: you, including figures read from a loan statement you import (the file itself never leaves your device; Privacy Policy section 5). Purpose: providing the calculations, comparisons and overviews you ask for.
  • Characteristics of protected classifications — your birth year, if you choose to add it, which shows your age. Source: you. Purpose: operating your account as you set it up.
  • Commercial information — your plan and subscription status, payment status, amounts, currency, dates and the payment provider's reference. Source: you and our payment provider, Stripe. Purpose: providing and administering your subscription and keeping accounting records.
  • Internet or other electronic network activity information — session records (without your IP address or browser identification), security log entries (sign-ins, changes, exports — no amounts), error lines in our web server's log (time, requested address, browser identification and a shortened IP address), and the app's own error log. Source: your device and browser. Purpose: keeping Cindrus secure, preventing misuse and fixing errors.
  • Audio, electronic or visual information — a profile image, if you add one. Source: you. Purpose: showing it in your account.
  • Other information you choose to give us — your preferred language, currency and tax residence; account preferences; messages and wishes you send us. Source: you. Purpose: providing Cindrus in the way you choose and answering you.

We do not collect precise geolocation, Social Security numbers, driver's license or passport numbers, bank or card account numbers (card details are entered with Stripe, not Cindrus), biometric, health or genetic information, or information about race, religion, sexual orientation, citizenship or immigration status.

We do not draw inferences to create a profile about your preferences, characteristics or behavior. Calculation results — for example a comparison between two loan scenarios — are stored with the loans they belong to.

Our websites. Our calculator websites measure visits without cookies, from our own server logs. Our website cindrus.com uses Google Analytics only if you allow it in the cookie choices; without that consent, nothing is loaded from Google.

P-3. Sensitive personal information

The only sensitive personal information we collect is your account log-in — your email address together with your password (stored only as a hash), and, if you turn it on, your two-step verification. We use it only to sign you in and to keep your account secure. We do not use or disclose sensitive personal information to infer characteristics about you or for any purpose other than those permitted by the CCPA regulations (section 7027(m)). There is therefore no need for a separate "limit" request, but you can always ask us about it.

P-4. Who we disclose personal information to

We disclose personal information only for business purposes, to these service providers and recipients:

  • Hetzner (Germany) — hosting, database and backups: all categories in section P-2.
  • Resend — sending email: identifiers and the content of the email.
  • Stripe — payment processing: identifiers and commercial information.
  • Logo.dev — company logos next to securities you own: your browser fetches them directly, so Logo.dev receives your IP address and the security's identifier, not your name, holdings or amounts.
  • Google or Microsoft — only if you choose to sign in with them: they learn that you are signing in to Cindrus and receive no financial information from us.
  • Google Analytics on cindrus.com — only with your consent: information about your visit to cindrus.com (pages viewed, device and browser type), not information from your Cindrus account.

We may also disclose personal information when the law requires it, to respond to a binding order from an authority, to establish or defend legal claims, or in a corporate transaction (Privacy Policy section 14).

We do not sell personal information, and we have not sold it in the past 12 months. We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we have not shared it in the past 12 months. We do not process personal information for targeted advertising, and we do not use it for profiling or automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects about you — Cindrus does not approve or reject loans or decide anything about you (Privacy Policy section 21). We have no actual knowledge of selling or sharing personal information of consumers under 16.

We do not disclose personal information to third parties for their own direct marketing purposes (California Civil Code § 1798.83).

P-5. Opt-out preference signals (Global Privacy Control)

Some browsers and extensions can send a signal, such as Global Privacy Control (GPC), that asks websites not to sell or share your personal information. Because we do not sell or share personal information, there is nothing for the signal to switch off — you are already opted out on every device and browser, with or without an account.

P-6. Your rights

Depending on the state you live in, you have the right to:

  • Know and access — ask what personal information we have collected about you, where it came from, why we use it and who we disclose it to, and receive a copy of the specific pieces of information.
  • Delete — ask us to delete personal information we have collected from you, subject to legal exceptions (for example accounting records we must keep).
  • Correct — ask us to correct inaccurate personal information.
  • Data portability — receive your information in a portable, machine-readable format. The file you download under Settings is in such a format.
  • Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, targeted advertising and profiling. We do none of these, so you are already opted out.
  • Limit the use of sensitive personal information. We use it only for permitted purposes (section P-3).
  • Not be discriminated against — we will not deny you the service, charge you a different price or give you a different quality of service because you exercise any of these rights.
  • Appeal — if we decline your request, you can appeal (section P-10).

You can do much of this yourself at any time: Settings lets you see and correct your information, download a file with it, and delete your account. Deleting your account deletes your information from the live service at once (Privacy Policy section 19).

P-7. How long we keep each category

  • Account information, financial information, preferences, profile image — while your account exists; deleted when you delete your account.
  • Connections to Google or Microsoft — while your account exists.
  • Imported statement text — not stored.
  • Session records — until they expire, normally within a few hours.
  • Security log — 24 months.
  • The app's error log — 14 days (never older than 16 days).
  • Error lines in our web server's log — deleted by size, oldest first; there is not yet a fixed period in days (Privacy Policy section 6).
  • Support requests — without an account, 12 months; with an account, until the account is deleted.
  • Payment and accounting records — as required by Danish accounting law: 5 years from the end of the financial year.
  • Backups — about 30 days on the server; the off-site archive does not yet delete copies automatically (Privacy Policy section 17).

P-8. How to make a request

You can make a request:

  • by email to privacy@cindrus.com; or
  • through the contact form on the Support page of cindrus.com — choose or write "Privacy request".

Please tell us which right you want to use and which email address your Cindrus account uses. You do not need an account to make a request.

P-9. How we verify your request

To protect your information, we verify that a request comes from you before we act on it:

  • If you are signed in, actions in Settings are already verified.
  • If you write to us, we ask you to confirm the request from the email address on your account. For requests to delete or to receive specific pieces of information, we may also ask you to sign in or to confirm details only the account holder would know.

We use information you provide for verification only to verify you. If we cannot verify you, we tell you why and what you can do.

Authorized agents. Someone you authorize may make a request for you. We will ask for your signed permission (or a valid power of attorney) and may ask you to verify your identity directly with us and to confirm that you gave the agent permission.

P-10. When you hear from us, and appeals

We confirm that we have received your request within 10 business days and tell you how we will handle it. We respond within 45 calendar days of receiving it. If we need more time, we will tell you why within those 45 days, and we may take up to 45 more days.

If we decline your request, we explain why. You can appeal by replying with "Appeal" to our answer or writing to privacy@cindrus.com. We respond to an appeal within 45 days and explain our decision. If your appeal is denied, you can contact the attorney general of your state — for example, in California, the California Privacy Protection Agency (cppa.ca.gov) or the California Attorney General (oag.ca.gov).

P-11. Children

Cindrus is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have, we delete it. If you believe a child under 13 has given us personal information, write to privacy@cindrus.com.

P-12. Your financial information

Some US financial privacy laws apply only to financial institutions. Regardless of whether those laws apply to Cindrus:

  • we do not disclose your financial information to companies outside Cindrus for their own purposes, including their marketing;
  • we use your financial information only to provide Cindrus to you (Privacy Policy section 4); and
  • we protect it with the security measures described in Privacy Policy section 24, including encryption in transit and of backups, access controls, security logging and optional two-step verification.

If we ever want to disclose your financial information in a way not described here, we will tell you first, and we will ask for your consent where the law requires it.

P-13. Where your information is stored

Cindrus' servers and database are in Germany (Privacy Policy sections 15 and 16). If you use Cindrus from the United States, your information is transferred to and stored in Germany.

P-14. Security incidents

If a security incident affects your personal information, we will notify you and the authorities as required by the laws that apply, including the data breach notification laws of your state.

P-15. Emails

Cindrus sends service emails about your account, such as password reset, sign-in notices and subscription confirmations and reminders (Privacy Policy section 11). We send marketing emails only if you have said yes to them (Privacy Policy section 12). Every marketing email identifies Cindrus, contains a working unsubscribe link and includes our postal address. You can unsubscribe at any time, and it takes effect straight away.

P-16. Changes and contact

We update this notice at least once every 12 months and whenever our practices change. The date at the top shows the last update. Questions: privacy@cindrus.com.
